Heavy Metal Against Breast Cancer VII wrapup
Of course I had to wait until I was back at work to post, I try not to waste too much of my own time online……the 7th edition of HMABC was a rousing sucess and at least from my own personal point of view the best one yet. Final tallies arent in yet but it looks like around $2,000 was raised which will bring the total amount brought in by these events over $10,000 now.
Blasphemous set the tone for the 2nd stage by opening with a brutal assault….Haywire has morphed and stepped the heaviness up a couple of notches but of course the lovely girls are still there – a great way to get the main stage going…..Undermind continued the brutalness on the 2nd stage…..Spur brought their redneck noise flavor to the main stage and kept the eye candy level up with that lovely bass player of theirs…..Mortalis then kept the 2nd stage barreling along with a pounding set…..then we had our turn at the fun and the pit exploded and never stopped-it had been awhile for us so it felt REAL GOOD!!…….then somehow Circle of Fear fit their 3 guitared monster onto the 2nd stage and closed it out with a major bang including a cover of everyones favorite metal band-SLAYER!! and then Unit closed the main stage, rocking it literally until they turned on the lights because it was already after closing time.
Thanks of course to everyone at the Den for not only giving us a great place to hold this event, but also a great place to play live with awesome sound. Major kudos to Circle of Fear who I hear donated all their merch $$$ to the cause!! And also to Mark, the drummer from Unit – he won the 50/50 raffle and true to the spirit of the event he donated every penny ($175) of his winnings back to the cause!!!
We also gave away yet another sirius satelitte radio, plenty of Hixon and Pirates Den shirts, a copy of “Sounds of the Beast” by Ian Christie and of course the Pit passes to the Unholy Alliance tour – and since the ticket sales for that raffle were so damn good we gave away 2 pairs of those Pit passes – can’t wait to see the winners at the show!!
I’m sure I missed someone or something but thanks to everyone who supported this this great cause by attending, participating or just plain donating. The place was packed and the crowd migrated between stages quite well. There were a few photographers running around so if I get any links to pics I’ll put them up.
